Friday Night Fights [Round 25]

Welcome back fight fans, to Sin City Nevada for another ACL tearing edition of Friday Night Fights! This week’s bout is the battle of the Vipers with control of the snake-pit and  NoVVember bragging rights on the line.  Without further preamble, let’s go to the tale of the tape.

Fighting out of the red corner, from beyond the lighted stage, it’s Don “The DragonWilson and his “Devil’s Advocate“.

And fighting out of the blue corner, from the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm Sweden, it’s Andreas “Lionheart” Lenander and his “Dragonfly“.

As usual, constant reader, you are tasked with deciding the outcome of this pugilistic endeavor and determine who will receive a week’s worth of bragging rights.  Simply leave a comment below and vote for the model that best suits your individual taste. I will tally up the votes next Friday and declare a winner.

Last time, on Friday Night Fights….

It was the battle of the wild blue yonder, with global air supremacy on the line.  In the end, Justin “Henry” Vaughn and his “Crater Express Moonbase Taxi” body slammed Derek “The Action Figure” Schin and his “Aero Pirates“ en route to a bruising 8-5 victory.  Justin Vaughn scores his first victory (1-0) while Derek Schin runs his record to (0-1).

  1. I vote Dragonfly.

Like the intensity of the brick work on fuselage and the odd shaping of the wings, and the colors. Also, that odd little stabilizer (the rearward pointing black spike like structure) on the Devils Advocate seems like a bit of a gank to me.

Yes, taxi won last week. Right on. (but I didn’t see all that custom graphic stuff on the side… I don’t dig that).

  2. Devil’s Advocate. I prefer the integration of the prongs to the rest of the ship although they seem a bit on the under powered side. The Dragonfly has the opposite effect and it feels like firing the guns would be a one shot deal. The DA is more in line with a fighter from the games destroying all variety of swarming alien whereas the DF is more of a boss puncher.

  3. Devil’s advocate. It’s swoopier as a one man fighter should be. I also like the use of the one piece wing. Dragonfly’s bubble canopy and heft don’t agree with a high speed fur ball.

  4. I prefer the distorted glider-like proportions of the Devil’s Advocate. The wings are a good match for that sporty cockpit and aside from shooting things I can imagine having a good time just flying around in style. Kind of makes me wish it wasn’t weaponized.

Going solely by the Vic Viper formula, the Dragonfly commits a cardinal sin by having such a puny dorsal fin. Seriously, just that one dinky curved slope? It’s like it was tacked-on just for the sake of nnoVVember. The BAVS (big ass vertical stabilizer) is easily the most neglected part of the VV blueprint.

    1. THAT’S what is bothering me about it. The prongs are so disproportionate that a solid BAVS would have easily solved. Now I really am disliking the Dragonfly even more.
